The Alternative Breaks Support Fund will be used to support students who volunteer their Spring and Winter Breaks to travel to locations across the country to help meet the needs in the community. Social action programs such as building homes for the homeless, increasing hunger awareness, and tutoring children and environmental action programs such as community, park, and wetland clean-up projects help students learn active citizenship.
The purpose of the Dean of Students Enhancement Fund is to provide programming, recognition, and educational opportunities for students and staff members that are not able to be covered by the regular operating budget.
The Institute for Leadership Development supports initiatives provided by the Leadership and Service, a unit of the Dean of Students Office, to develop students as engaged, compassionate leaders committed to action, service, and social change in the global community. Current programs include LeaderShape®, the Civil Rights Movement Trip, Leadership Revolution, the Leadership and Service Themed-Learning Community, and Camp LEAD, with plans to increase opportunities and options for students.
The purpose of the LGBT Student Support Fund is to provide support through emergency financial assistance for students who lose the financial support of their families due to their sexual orientation, to recognize student involvement with special scholarships, and to create educational programs about unique issues facing LGBT students. The executive board of Illinois State University’s Triangle Association and the Dean of Students determine expenditures made from the fund.
The Run for Academic Success and Excellence (RASE) Fund will be used to support students who participate in leadership programs sponsored by the Dean of Students Office. It was created by Rick Lewis, associate dean, who runs the Chicago Marathon to inspire students to set and commit to completing their goals through hard work and perseverance.
The University Program Board (UPB) Foundation Account will be used to support the student members that are dedicated to providing social, cultural, educational, and recreational programs for Illinois State University and the surrounding community. When you give to this fund, you will be assisting the UPB in furthering professional development, securing opportunities for growth in programming, and recognizing the devoted members of the organization. The fund will also enhance existing programs and allow for new programmatic developments.
