Community Rights and Responsibilities offers programs and services for the community related to alcohol, conflict resolution, risk management and the student conduct process. Our goal is to be proactive and to engage in dialogue about what it means to be a member of the TRUE Redbird family. It is our belief that being a TRUE Redbird extends far beyond issues of compliance with rules and regulations, and is focused on citizenship. Through partnership and collaboration Illinois State University can achieve a values congruent community.
Community Rights and Responsibilities staff coordinate workshop programs and presentations for the campus community that can be tailored for academic departments, classes, committees, residence hall floors, registered student organizations, and athletic teams.
A range of free conflict resolution programs and services are available to students, the University community, and those in the local community interacting with the University.
Offered once a month, this training provides students with the opportunity to become certified in the Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) for the University curriculum. It is designed to aid students in learning how to address underage consumption of alcohol at social events as well as overconsumption by guests. This is an excellent opportunity for registered student organizations to better manage their risks by having their event monitors trained in these techniques.
This resource is designed to assist individual students and registered student organization leaders in planning social events and managing the risks associated with those events. Community Rights and Responsibilities staff members, as well as SCOuT members, are available to present on topics covered within the Guide itself.
This team is available to provide a peer-to-peer perspective on the Code of Student Conduct, risk management, social host liability and policy compliance and accountability
