Conflict Resolution Programs

 

The Dean of Students Office provides services, support and solutions to students at Illinois State. Free conflict resolution programs and services are available to students, the University community, and those in the local community interacting with the University. Conflict resolution services are offered through Community Rights & Responsibilities, a unit of the Dean of Students Office.

  • Mediation Program - Provides trained mediators to help individuals in conflict discuss their issues and identify possible solutions to resolve conflict.
  • Arbitration Services - Provides a neutral third party (an arbiter) who is responsible for listening to both sides, asking clarifying questions, and determining a decision which the parties agree in advance to abide by.
  • Facilitation Services - Provides disputants with the opportunity to informally discuss the conflict with the assistance of a third party.
