- FLAME - Feminist Led Activist Movement to Empowerment
- Pride - GLBT student organization, at Illinois State University
- Pride Listserv - Email Pride to get information on how to be added to the Pride listserv, an email forum to discuss local GLBT issues, events, and programs or call Diversity Advocacy (309) 438-8968.
Community Resources
- ACHR - (Advocacy Council for Human Rights) Dedicated to the implementation of full civil rights protections for GLBT people in Bloomington-Normal.
Statewide Resources
- Equality Illinois - (formerly Illinois Federation for Human Rights) Founded in 1991. The mission of Equality Illinois is to secure, protect, and defend the basic civil rights of GLBT persons in the state of Illinois. (Based in Chicago).
- Illinois ACLU - Fight civil liberties violations wherever and whenever they occur. This is the Illinois chapter of the national ACLU organization.
- Windy City Times - The Voice of Chicago's Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Trans Community Since 1985. Weekly and monthly GLBT publications from Chicago's Windy City Media Group.
National Resources
- GLAAD - Dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
- GLSEN - The leading national organization fighting to end anti-gay bias in K-12 schools. Ideal for education majors or current educators.
- HRC - America's largest GLBT organization, providing a national voice on GLBT issues. HRC increases public understanding through innovative education and communication strategies.
- NGLTF - National progressive organization working for the civil rights of GLBT people with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement.
- PFLAG - Promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families, and friends through support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG has several local and state chapters.
- GenderPAC - National advocacy organization working to ensure every American's right to their gender - free from stereotypes, discrimination, and violence - regardless of how they look, act, dress, or how others perceive their sex or sexual orientation.
- BiNet USA - Works to be a national voice for bisexuals. BiNet is focused on ending oppression based on sexuality; creating a sex-positive world that celebrates and supports all types of people, including bisexual and all types of loving relationships, including polyamorous ones; voicing the needs and concerns of bisexuals; and supporting efforts to end oppression based on gender, sex, race, class, age, and ability.
- ACLU - The goal of the ACLU Lesbian and Gay Rights Project is equal treatment and equal dignity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. That means even-handed treatment by the government, protection from discrimination, and fair and equal treatment for lesbian and gay couples and families.
