Overview

Since 2008, Bring It Back to Normal (BIBTN) has provided opportunities for large groups of volunteers to give back to the community that houses Illinois State University. Over the past six years, Bring It Back to Normal has placed over 1,300 volunteers, who have completed over 3,000 hours of service. As volunteers, students have the opportunity to work with local residents and non-profit agencies to help meet the needs of the community.

Even though it is a one-day event, Bring It Back to Normal is a great way to get involved and makes a huge difference to the people of Normal. We will be serving several agencies focusing on the environment, youth, homelessness, hunger, poverty, and more.

Students

Join your fellow Illinois State students to volunteer on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 8:30am to 1:00pm to thank the Normal community for their support of ISU.

Check-in is from 8:30-9:30am on Saturday, April 5. Service will end at 1:00pm. Check-in will be in Schroeder 130. After volunteers sign in, they will go to their sites to serve. Some sites will be within walking distance of campus, and students will travel to other sites in personal vehicles or through the use of Leadership and Service's provided transportation. Any ISU student, faculty, or staff member may volunteer. Those being served are local residents who have a need for work around their houses. Many of those served are older members of the community or those without the ability to complete the assigned work on their own.

Transportation will be provided to those in need of it.

Registration is now closed.

Individuals & Student Organizations

All registrants will need to register as individuals through the online registration tool above. Those who do not register before the deadline will serve on a walk-in basis only and are not guaranteed an assignment. On the day of the event, participants will choose the location at which they would like to serve. We cannot guarantee that groups will be able to serve at the same site.*

*In order to have a higher chance for your group to serve together, make sure all members of the group arrive on time. Spots fill up fast, so being on time will greatly increase your chances of serving as a team, especially if your group has many members.

Site Leaders

Site leaders are vital to the success of Bring It Back to Normal. They help lead students through the day of service, encourage participation, and maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm. If you are excited about serving the community and are interested in being a more involved leader, please respond with 'Yes' on the site leader section of your registration.

Every site leader is required to attend one training session on either Wednesday, March 26 or Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. Location of these meetings is TBA.
